Orquestra del Miracle

ORCHESTRA

Founded in 2023 by the Espurnes Barroques Foundation, the Orquestra del Miracle was created with the ambition of becoming a benchmark in the field of historically informed performance. Established and directed by Juan de la Rubia and based at the Santuario del Miracle (Catalonia), the orchestra seeks to offer meaningful listening experiences through a holistic approach to interpretation.

The Orquestra del Miracle is made up of outstanding young musicians from different parts of Spain and Europe, building a stable ensemble for its projects. Rooted in the rural and harmonious surroundings of the Santuario del Miracle, the orchestra provides an ideal setting for creation and study in preparation for each of its programs.

With a commitment to the recovery and dissemination of the Iberian Peninsula’s musical heritage, as well as to the promotion of contemporary music, the Orquestra del Miracle designs its programs with these musicological concerns in mind, while also embracing the great works of the European repertoire.

In its inaugural concert in June 2023, Scherzo magazine (Imanol Temprano) wrote:

“If I were a programmer, I would not hesitate to make sure I was the first to book them, because the artistic result is, I can assure you, simply dazzling. Which is hardly surprising, given that the orchestra is led by Juan de la Rubia—no introduction needed, he is arguably Spain’s finest organist and one of today’s outstanding musicians—who has brought together a dream team of musicians, mostly young but exceptionally well prepared, many of whom are already collaborating with the best baroque orchestras of our time.”

In recent seasons, the Orquestra del Miracle has been invited to perform at venues such as the Palau de la Música Catalana, Festival Llums d’Antiga, Festival Espurnes Barroques, and the Millenary celebrations of the Monastery of Montserrat. In the 2025/26 season, the orchestra will appear at the FeMÀS Festival in Seville and the Bilbao Philharmonic Society, among other engagements.
