The mezzo-soprano Agostina Smimmero, at the age of 17, accesses the “Conservatorio S. Pietro a Majella di Napoli” as first of the waiting list where she degrees in “Canto Lirico” with highest honours (10/10).
Winner of several national and international opera contests, she triumphs in September 2012 at the “INTERNATIONAL SINGING COMPETITION MONTSERRAT CABALLE’ ”, competition that counts the participation of 60 countries from the whole world. She’s the only Italian winner in the history of this contest. Furthermore, in the same year, wins the 1st prize in the 1st International Contest “Rosa Ponselle” togheter to the further special prize “Campania” a particular praise for under 26 young singers coming from Campania.

Her repertoire includes already performed roles such as:
– Azucena in G. Verdi’s “Trovatore”, performed in June 2012 in Spain, at Saragozza’s Auditorium beside the tenor Gaston Rivero directed by Juan Luis Martinez, and in many encores from 10th April to 7th May 2013 in Portugal, at Lisbona’s Teatro Nacional de Sao Carlos, that met the favour of audience and critics under Martin Andrè’s conduction and Francesco Esposito’s direction.
– La Baronessa di Champigny in Nino Rota’s “Cappello di Paglia di Firenze” from 4th to 10th December 2013at Florence’s Teatro Comunale conducted by Andrea Battistoni and directed by Andrea Cigni.
– Maddalena in G. Verdi’s “Rigoletto”in May 2013 at Lisbona’s Teatro Nacional de Sao Carlos directed by Francesco Esposito.
– Mercedes in G. Bizet’s “Carmen” in August 2012 at Milan’s “Auditorium La Verdi” in three plays beside Alberto Gazale conducted by Maestro Jader Bignamini.
– Fenena in G. Verdi’s “Nabucco” performed in October 2011beside Giovanni Meoni and conducted by Stefano Vizioli.
– Lola and Mamma Lucia in P. Mascagni’s “Cavalleria Rusticana” in various productions, starting from 2008;
– Berta in “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” in Benevento with a production of Naples’ Teatro San Carlo
– Giovanna in Rigoletto at the age of 20 directed by Enrico Stinchelli.
She performed Operas belonging to Rossini’s and Verdi’s repertoire under the direction of Francesco Esposito, Enrico Stinchelli, Stefano Vizioli, Nicola Zorzi.
She was masterfully directed by Martin Andre, Maurizio Benini, Salvatore Caputo, Alessandro Fabrizi and Antonino Fogliani, among others.
Intense concert alongside great performers such as Jaume Aragall, Andrea Bocelli, Paata Burchulatze, Montserrat Caballé, Fiorella Cedolinis, Sergi Giménez, Nicola Martinucci, Montserrat Marti, Joan Pons, Roberto Servile at the Gala of the Voice at Ravenna’s Teatro Dante Alighieri in the presence of Maestro Riccardo Muti honorary chairman of the event.
11/11/2012: Concert at the auditorium of Barcelona beside artists such as Montserrat Marti and Paata Burchulatze.
September 2010: Performs the Ninth Symphony of Beethoven at the Teatro Flavio Vespasiano in Rieti at the inaugural concert of the Nuova Osim Monteverdi Orchestra that will repeat several times in December 2011 with the wise direction of Maestro Donato Renzetti.
May 2010: Four concerts at Real Teatro San Carlo in Naples: “Le Lingue d’Europa”
November 2011: Takes part to an opera concert in the U.S.A with her sophisticated opera arias, with the choral conduction by Phillip Collister and orchestral conduction by Maestro Simeone Tartaglione in the city of Baltimore.
Among her experiences stand out a Concerto in Asti with the tenor Marcello Giordani at the “Premio Aureliano Pertile 2011″ in November 2011 and the recital for the Palermitan Associazione Ester Mazzoleni with a vast repertoire from Gluck, Cherubini, G. Rossini, V. Bellini, G. Verdi, Bizet, Gounod, Donizetti.
In December 2011 she was invited from the Argentinean composer Maestro Martin Palmieri to the realization of the European Premiere of “MISSA TANGO” with Latin text and seductive tango melody lines for solo mezzo-soprano with orchestra, choir and a bandoneon exceptional M.S. Petrodarchi.
09/22/2012: She holds the concert “Giacomo Maggiore” in the auditorium of the Conservatory San Pietro a Majella in Naples in which she receives from the Fondazione Teatro San Carlo in Naples the Elizabeth Fusco Award.
05/15/2013: She holds in Naples a concert of modern tunes.
06/09/2013: She holds a gala evening in Yerevan (Armenia) with Montserrat Caballé and Montserrat Martí Caballé accompanied by the Youth Orchestra of Armenia and conducted by Maestro Ramon Tebar.
12/15/2013 and 12/25/2013: She starred in the world premiere of the “Magnificat Tango” written by the modern Argentinian composer Martin Palmieri for orchestra and choir.
